Psychology 1010

Reflection

Psychology 1010 was a very interesting course. I learned a lot about how our brain processes ideas. I learned about the emotions we feel and how we can come to change those feelings.  The course also taught us how intelligence is measured and how we can improve our intelligence. I enjoyed this class the most. It was very easy to understand the text and the information it was trying to explain. The discussions were helpful at looking at the information an unusual way. They also helped you apply the information a unique way to reach a better understanding. The quizzes were challenging and helped you recall information. They were easy to use to help study for your final. The course also required us to write a 5-page paper on any subject we decided to do. I wrote mine on intelligence and is provided below.  All these assignments helped me to prepare for the final and will help me carry the information through my life.

I loved learned about how you develop because my good friend is pregnant. It was fun comparing where she was at in her pregnancy and what was going on in the development. I cannot wait to be my little niece’s aunt. I hope that we will get along and I will be able to make her laugh a lot. I enjoyed the experiments. Sometimes, they made me nervous because you had to talk to a group of people of survey about 20 people. I always got nervous asking random people about their lives.

Another topic I enjoyed learning about was stress. I tend to have a lot of stress and anxiety and the course taught a lot about how to react to stress. It also showed how you can change how you react to your stressors. I have been working on my stress levels for a while. This information has helped me bring myself closer to a different level of stress. I can relax a little more. I feel less smothered by it.

I have also learned how my brain works. I am more introverted. But this can always change. I have become more able to enjoy life. I enjoy going on adventures more. I have also learned how a therapist can help you. I have always tended to look at going to therapy as a dreadful thing. But really it can help. Even if you don’t think it’s something that needs therapy, it could always help you work out the solutions in your bad. I just also thought that you went because you had a mental problem.

Another thing this course has helped me understand is people with mental illnesses in my life. I understand my friends better who have bipolar disorder and multiple personality disorder. I also work with people like this at my work. It helps me understand how to communicate with them and understand how their brain processes think to avoid conflict. It’s a little easier helped people like this when you have no idea where their mind could go.
